ולאחאב שבעין בנין בשמרון וכתב יהוא אגרן ושדר לשמרון לרברבי יזרעאל סביא ולתורבניא דאחאב למימר:
lmymr dakhab wlthwrbnya sbya yzreal lrbrby lshmrwn wshdr agrn yhwa wkthb bshmrwn bnyn shbeyn wlakhab
Now Ahab had seventy sons in Samaria. Jehu wrote letters and sent them to Samaria, to the rulers of Jezreel, even the elders, and to those who brought up Ahab’s sons, saying,

וכען כמיתא אגרתא הדין לותכון ועמכון בני רבוניכון ועמכון רתיכין וסוסון וקרוין כריכן ומאני זינא:
zyna wmany krykn wqrwyn wswswn rthykyn wemkwn rbwnykwn bny wemkwn lwthkwn hdyn agrtha kmytha wken
“Now as soon as this letter comes to you, since your master’s sons are with you, and you have chariots and horses, a fortified city also, and armor,

ותחזון דתקין ודכשר מבני רבונכון ותשוון על כורסי מלכותא דאבוהי ותגיחון קרב על בית רבונכון:
rbwnkwn byth el qrb wthgykhwn dabwhy mlkwtha kwrsy el wthshwwn rbwnkwn mbny wdkshr dthqyn wthkhzwn
select the best and fittest of your master’s sons, set him on his father’s throne, and fight for your master’s house.”

ודחילו לחדא לחדא ואמרו הא תרין מלכיא לא יכילו למיקם קדמוהי ואכדין נקום אנחנא:
ankhna nqwm wakdyn qdmwhy lmyqm ykylw la mlkya thryn ha wamrw lkhda lkhda wdkhylw
But they were exceedingly afraid, and said, “Behold, the two kings didn’t stand before him! How then shall we stand?”

ושלח דממנא על ביתא ודממנא על קרתא וסביא ותורביניא לות יהוא למימר עבדך אנחנא וכל דתימר לנא נעביד לא נמליך גבר דתקין בעינך עביד:
ebyd beynk dthqyn gbr nmlyk la nebyd lna dthymr wkl ankhna ebdk lmymr yhwa lwth wthwrbynya wsbya qrtha el wdmmna bytha el dmmna wshlkh
He who was over the household, and he who was over the city, the elders also, and those who raised the children, sent to Jehu, saying, “We are your servants, and will do all that you ask us. We will not make any man king. You do that which is good in your eyes.”

וכתב להון אגרתא תנינות למימר אם דילי אתון ומני אתון מקבלין סבו ית רישי גברי בני רבונכון ותיתון לותי כעדנא הדין מחר ליזרעאל ובני מלכא שבעין גברא ית רברבי קרתא מרבן יתהון:
ythhwn mrbn qrtha rbrby yth gbra shbeyn mlka wbny lyzreal mkhr hdyn kedna lwthy wthythwn rbwnkwn bny gbry ryshy yth sbw mqblyn athwn wmny athwn dyly am lmymr thnynwth agrtha lhwn wkthb
Then he wrote a letter the second time to them, saying, “If you are on my side, and if you will listen to my voice, take the heads of the men who are your master’s sons, and come to me to Jezreel by tomorrow this time.” Now the king’s sons, being seventy persons, were with the great men of the city, who brought them up.

והוא כמיתי אגרתא לותהון ודברו ית בני מלכא ונכיסו שבעין גברא ושויאו ית רישהון בסליא ושדרינון לותיה ליזרעאל:
lyzreal lwthyh wshdrynwn bslya ryshhwn yth wshwyaw gbra shbeyn wnkysw mlka bny yth wdbrw lwthhwn agrtha kmythy whwa
When the letter came to them, they took the king’s sons and killed them, even seventy people, and put their heads in baskets, and sent them to him to Jezreel.

ואתא אזגדא וחוי ליה למימר איתיאו רישי בני מלכא ואמר שוו יתהון תרין דגורין במעלנא דתרעא עד צפרא:
tspra ed dthrea bmelna dgwryn thryn ythhwn shww wamr mlka bny ryshy aythyaw lmymr lyh wkhwy azgda watha
A messenger came and told him, “They have brought the heads of the king’s sons.” He said, “Lay them in two heaps at the entrance of the gate until the morning.”

והוה בצפרא ונפק וקם ואמר לכל עמא זכאין אתון הא אנא מרדית על רבוני וקטלתיה ומן קטל ית כל אלין:
alyn kl yth qTl wmn wqTlthyh rbwny el mrdyth ana ha athwn zkayn ema lkl wamr wqm wnpq btspra whwh
In the morning, he went out and stood, and said to all the people, “You are righteous. Behold, I conspired against my master and killed him, but who killed all these?

דעו כען ארי לא יבטל מפתגמא דיי דמליל יי על בית אחאב ויי קים ית דמליל ביד עבדיה אליהו:
alyhw ebdyh byd dmlyl yth qym wyy akhab byth el yy dmlyl dyy mpthgma ybTl la ary ken dew
Know now that nothing will fall to the earth of Yahweh’s word, which Yahweh spoke concerning Ahab’s house. For Yahweh has done that which he spoke by his servant Elijah.”

ומחא יהוא ית כל דאשתארו לבית אחאב ביזרעאל וכל רברבוהי וקריבוהי וחברוהי עד דלא אשתאר ליה משיזיב:
mshyzyb lyh ashthar dla ed wkhbrwhy wqrybwhy rbrbwhy wkl byzreal akhab lbyth dashtharw kl yth yhwa wmkha
So Jehu struck all that remained of Ahab’s house in Jezreel, with all his great men, his familiar friends, and his priests, until he left him no one remaining.

וקם ואתא ואזל לשמרון הוא בית כנישת רעיא באורחא:
bawrkha reya knyshth byth hwa lshmrwn wazl watha wqm
He arose and departed, and went to Samaria. As he was at the shearing house of the shepherds on the way,

ויהוא אשכח ית אמי אחזיה מלך שבטא דבית יהודה ואמר מן אתון ואמרו אחי אחזיהו אנחנא ונחתנא למסעד שלם בני מלכא ובני מלכתא:
mlktha wbny mlka bny shlm lmsed wnkhthna ankhna akhzyhw akhy wamrw athwn mn wamr yhwdh dbyth shbTa mlk akhzyh amy yth ashkkh wyhwa
Jehu met with the brothers of Ahaziah king of Judah, and said, “Who are you?” They answered, “We are the brothers of Ahaziah. We are going down to greet the children of the king and the children of the queen.”

ואמר אחודינון כד חיין ואחדונון כד חיין ונכוסונון לגו בית כנשתא ארבעין ותרין גברא ולא אשתאר אנש מנהון:
mnhwn ansh ashthar wla gbra wthryn arbeyn knshtha byth lgw wnkwswnwn khyyn kd wakhdwnwn khyyn kd akhwdynwn wamr
He said, “Take them alive!” They took them alive, and killed them at the pit of the shearing house, even forty-two men. He didn’t leave any of them.

ואזל מתמן ואשכח ית יהונדב בר רכב לקדמותיה וברכיה ושאיל בשלמיה ואמר ליה האית לבך כשר כמא דלבי עם לבך ואמר יהונדב אית ואית הב ית ידך ויהב ידיה ואסקיה לותיה לרתיכא:
lrthyka lwthyh wasqyh ydyh wyhb ydk yth hb wayth ayth yhwndb wamr lbk em dlby kma kshr lbk hayth lyh wamr bshlmyh wshayl wbrkyh lqdmwthyh rkb br yhwndb yth washkkh mthmn wazl
When he had departed from there, he met Jehonadab the son of Rechab coming to meet him. He greeted him, and said to him, “Is your heart right, as my heart is with your heart?” Jehonadab answered, “It is.” “If it is, give me your hand.” He gave him his hand; and he took him up to him into the chariot.

ואמר איתא עמי וחזי בקנאתי דאנא מקנא קדם יי ואחיתו יתיה ברתיכיה:
brthykyh ythyh wakhythw yy qdm mqna dana bqnathy wkhzy emy aytha wamr
He said, “Come with me, and see my zeal for Yahweh.” So they made him ride in his chariot.

ואתא לשמרון ומחא ית כל דאשתארו לאחאב בשמרון עד די שיציה כפתגמא דיי דמליל עם אליהו:
alyhw em dmlyl dyy kpthgma shytsyh dy ed bshmrwn lakhab dashtharw kl yth wmkha lshmrwn watha
When he came to Samaria, he struck all who remained to Ahab in Samaria, until he had destroyed them, according to Yahweh’s word which he spoke to Elijah.

וכנש יהוא ית כל עמא ואמר להון אחאב פלח ית בעלא זעיר יהוא יפלחיניה סגי:
sgy yplkhynyh yhwa zeyr bela yth plkh akhab lhwn wamr ema kl yth yhwa wknsh
Jehu gathered all the people together, and said to them, “Ahab served Baal a little, but Jehu will serve him much.

וכען כל נביי בעלא וכל פלחוהי וכל כומרוהי זמינו לי אנש לא ישגי ארי דבח רב לי לבעלא כל דישגי לא יתקים ויהוא עבד בחוכמא בדיל לאבדא ית פלחי בעלא:
bela plkhy yth labda bdyl bkhwkma ebd wyhwa ythqym la dyshgy kl lbela ly rb dbkh ary yshgy la ansh ly zmynw kwmrwhy wkl plkhwhy wkl bela nbyy kl wken
Now therefore call to me all the prophets of Baal, all of his worshipers, and all of his priests. Let no one be absent, for I have a great sacrifice to Baal. Whoever is absent, he shall not live.” But Jehu did deceptively, intending to destroy the worshipers of Baal.
20
ואמר יהוא זמינו כנשתא לבעלא וזמינו:
wzmynw lbela knshtha zmynw yhwa wamr
Jehu said, “Sanctify a solemn assembly for Baal!” So they proclaimed it.
21
ושלח יהוא בכל ישראל ואתו כל פלחי בעלא ולא אשתאר אנש דלא אתא ועלו לבית בעלא ואתמלי בית בעלא ספא בספא:
bspa spa bela byth wathmly bela lbyth welw atha dla ansh ashthar wla bela plkhy kl wathw yshral bkl yhwa wshlkh
Jehu sent through all Israel; and all the worshipers of Baal came, so that there was not a man left that didn’t come. They came into the house of Baal; and the house of Baal was filled from one end to another.
22
ואמר לדממנא על קומטריא אפיק לבושא לכל פלחי בעלא ואפיק להון לבושא:
lbwsha lhwn wapyq bela plkhy lkl lbwsha apyq qwmTrya el ldmmna wamr
He said to him who kept the wardrobe, “Bring out robes for all the worshipers of Baal!” So he brought robes out to them.

ואתא יהוא ויהונדב בר רכב לבית בעלא ואמר לפלחי בעלא בלושו וחזו דלמא אית בא עמכון מעבדיא דיי אלהין פלחי בעלא בלחודיהון:
blkhwdyhwn bela plkhy alhyn dyy mebdya emkwn ba ayth dlma wkhzw blwshw bela lplkhy wamr bela lbyth rkb br wyhwndb yhwa watha
Jehu went with Jehonadab the son of Rechab into the house of Baal. Then he said to the worshipers of Baal, “Search, and see that none of the servants of Yahweh are here with you, but only the worshipers of Baal.”

ואתו למעבד נכסת קודשין ועלון ויהוא מני ליה בברא תמנין גברא ואמר גברא דישתיזיב מן גברא דאנא מעיל על ידיכון נפשיה חלף נפשיה:
npshyh khlp npshyh ydykwn el meyl dana gbra mn dyshthyzyb gbra wamr gbra thmnyn bbra lyh mny wyhwa welwn qwdshyn nksth lmebd wathw
So they went in to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings. Now Jehu had appointed for himself eighty men outside, and said, “If any of the men whom I bring into your hands escape, he who lets him go, his life shall be for the life of him.”

והוה כד שיצי למעבד עלתא ואמר יהוא לרהטיא ולגבריא עולו מחונון אנש לא יפוק ומחונון לפתגם דחרב ורמו רהטיא וגבריא קטילין ואזלו עד קרית בית בעלא:
bela byth qryth ed wazlw qTylyn wgbrya rhTya wrmw dkhrb lpthgm wmkhwnwn ypwq la ansh mkhwnwn ewlw wlgbrya lrhTya yhwa wamr eltha lmebd shytsy kd whwh
As soon as he had finished offering the burnt offering, Jehu said to the guard and to the captains, “Go in and kill them! Let no one escape.” So they struck them with the edge of the sword. The guard and the captains threw the bodies out, and went to the inner shrine of the house of Baal.
26
ואפיקו ית קמת בית בעלא ואוקידוה:
wawqydwh bela byth qmth yth wapyqw
They brought out the pillars that were in the house of Baal and burned them.
27
ותרעו ית קמת בעלא ותרעו ית בית בעלא ושויוהא לבית מפקת אנשא עד יומא דין:
dyn ywma ed ansha mpqth lbyth wshwywha bela byth yth wthrew bela qmth yth wthrew
They broke down the pillar of Baal, and broke down the house of Baal, and made it a latrine, to this day.

לחוד בחובי ירבעם בר נבט דחייב ית ישראל לא סטא יהוא מבתריהון אשתעביד לעגלי דהבא די בבית אל ודי בדן:
bdn wdy al bbyth dy dhba legly ashthebyd mbthryhwn yhwa sTa la yshral yth dkhyyb nbT br yrbem bkhwby lkhwd
However, Jehu didn’t depart from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin—the golden calves that were in Bethel and that were in Dan.

ואמר יי ליהוא חלף דאתקינתא למעבד דכשר קדמי ככל דברעותי עבדתא לבית אחאב בנין רביעין יתבון לך על כורסי מלכותא דישראל:
dyshral mlkwtha kwrsy el lk ythbwn rbyeyn bnyn akhab lbyth ebdtha dbrewthy kkl qdmy dkshr lmebd dathqyntha khlp lyhwa yy wamr
Yahweh said to Jehu, “Because you have done well in executing that which is right in my eyes, and have done to Ahab’s house according to all that was in my heart, your descendants shall sit on the throne of Israel to the fourth generation.”
31
ויהוא לא נטר למהך באוריתא דיי אלהא דישראל בכל לביה לא סטא מעל חובי ירבעם דחיב ית ישראל:
yshral yth dkhyb yrbem khwby mel sTa la lbyh bkl dyshral alha dyy bawrytha lmhk nTr la wyhwa
But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of Yahweh, the God of Israel, with all his heart. He didn’t depart from the sins of Jeroboam, with which he made Israel to sin.
32
ביומיא האינון שרי רוגזא דיי למתקף בישראל ומחנון חזאל בכל תחום ארעא דישראל:
dyshral area thkhwm bkl khzal wmkhnwn byshral lmthqp dyy rwgza shry haynwn bywmya
In those days Yahweh began to cut away parts of Israel; and Hazael struck them in all the borders of Israel
33
מן ירדנא מדנח שמשא ית כל ארעא גלעד שבטא גד ושבטא ראובן ושבטא דמנשה מערוער דעל כיף נחלא דארנון וארעא גלעד ומתנן:
wmthnn gled warea darnwn nkhla kyp del merwer dmnshh wshbTa rawbn wshbTa gd shbTa gled area kl yth shmsha mdnkh yrdna mn
from the Jordan eastward, all the land of Gilead, the Gadites, and the Reubenites, and the Manassites, from Aroer, which is by the valley of the Arnon, even Gilead and Bashan.
34
ושאר פתגמי יהוא וכל דעבד וגבורתיה הלא אינון כתיבין על ספר פתגמי יומיא למלכי ישראל:
yshral lmlky ywmya pthgmy spr el kthybyn aynwn hla wgbwrthyh debd wkl yhwa pthgmy wshar
Now the rest of the acts of Jehu, and all that he did, and all his might, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
35
ושכב יהוא עם אבהתוהי וקברו יתיה בשמרון ומלך יהואחז בריה תחותוהי:
thkhwthwhy bryh yhwakhz wmlk bshmrwn ythyh wqbrw abhthwhy em yhwa wshkb
Jehu slept with his fathers; and they buried him in Samaria. Jehoahaz his son reigned in his place.
